Respond safely to smoke or unusual air quality
Do This Now
10 seconds- Alert cabin crew immediately using call button
- Cover nose and mouth with cloth or clothing
- Stay low - smoke rises, cleaner air is below
- Remain seated with seatbelt fastened
Next 60 Seconds
1 minute- Breathe through wet cloth if available
- Close overhead air vents near you
- Stay calm - crews are trained for this
- Prepare to follow crew instructions
- Note location of nearest exit
If Landing is Imminent
Pre-landing- Keep covering your nose and mouth
- Review brace position
- Be ready to evacuate quickly
- Identify your exit route clearly
After Stop/Landing
Post-landing- Wait for crew to open doors
- Leave ALL belongings
- Stay low while moving through cabin if smoky
- Use floor lighting to guide to exit
- Move far away from aircraft outside
